Can fluconazole treat pinworms?

Fluconazole is an antifungal drug used to treat varying forms to fungal infections. Fluconazole is not an anthelminthic and so cannot be used to treat worm infestations like pinworms infestations. Pinworm is notorious for causing intense anal itching and even vaginal itching in women. The itching is worse at night when these worms crawl from the intestines to the anus or vaginal causing severe allergic skin itching. This can disturb sleep.
