The argument:

Pineapple is one of the most tasteful fruits that is eaten for both medicinal benefits and fun. It is tasteful and literally everyone would love to have a bite of the fruit but is it safe for everyone? No, pregnant women are advised never to eat pineapples no matter how they crave for it.

Why Are Pregnant Women Advised Not To Eat Pineapples?

During pregnancy, there are usually lots of do’s and dont’s. Women are often advised to be mindful of the kind of things they eat, drink or even the kind of drugs they take because of how rough a stage, pregnancy is. Some things including fruits can cause disaster for a pregnant woman in the sense that, it can lead to preterm birth or labour. Pineapple ranks high on the list of fruits women should avoid both in the early stages of their pregnancy (first trimester) and the later stages. As long as you are a pregnant woman, make sure you avoid eating pineapple.

Can pineapple cause miscarriage or abortion? No Scientific research supports this claim.

Pineapple contains bromelain which is an enzyme that breaks down protein. The implication of having this enzyme in your body as a pregnant woman is that, it will soften the cervix and result in early labour. If you are pregnant, eating pineapple can cause abnormal uterine contractions which can either result to a miscarriage or even giving birth to a baby before the normal time. So women are advised to stay away from pineapple during pregnancy for the sake of their health and the baby’s.

Fact: There are no documented cases of miscarriage from eating these fruits and food. Miscarriages normally occur due to infections or certain medical conditions, mostly the cause can be idiopathic!!!!

Yes, they can! Pineapple is a safe, healthy choice during pregnancy. There’s no scientific evidence to support that pineapple is dangerous during pregnancy. The rumors about pineapple are not evidence based practice

Pineapple contains bromelain, but this substance aren’t recommended for use during pregnancy. They can break down proteins in the body and lead to abnormal bleeding.
But the amount of bromelain in a single serving of pineapple is not likely to impact your pregnancy. Pineapple cannot cause miscarriage or abort early pregnancy in the first trimester.
