Welcome to www.nimedhealth.com.ng

Mkpuru mmiri has become a serious mental health issue in the southeast of Nigeria with thousands of Igbo youths addicted to the drug.

Mkpuru mmiri is the Igbo slang name for a very dangerous hard drug called Methamphetamine or Crystal Meth. The Hausa or Yoruba word for mkpuru mmiri is not known yet.

It looks like Ice Block and can be blue in color sometimes. Mkpuru mmiri is known by medical experts to be one of the hardest drug addictions to treat in the world..

What is the meaning of Mkpuru mmiri? Crystal Meth

It is very addictive and affects the central nervous system of whoever takes it. It creates a feeling of massive happiness that is very addictive and makes the taker want to fly and involves in life threatening ventures.

Go to the villages and watch our youth wasting away, sniffing this hard stuff like snuff and subsequently turning them into a ‘beast’ with destructive tendencies.

This drug is right now wasting the destiny and future of many youths in South East Nigeria and it is making them commit heinous crimes that a sane person is incapable of contemplating.

Under its influence, they can cut someone to pieces with a knife and feel no remorse, or take a life at the slightest provocation. Little wonder the spate of killings, rape and arson in Igboland these days. That is how far this hard drug can drive or manipulate its victim.

When the effect wears off, the taker tries to have that feeling again thereby taking it again.

Yours sincerely, www.nimedhealth.com.ng spoke to a Pharmacist Chikelu Ekenebe to shed more light on the menace and effects of mkpuru mmiri on Nigerian youths ….here is what he had to say:

“I have lent my voice giving professional advice on Meth ( Methamphetamine/mkpurummiri) on Wazobia FM few days ago focusing on the dangers and roles of Pharmacists in ameliorating the abuse.

Though indicated for treating ADHD ( Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) it has a high potential for abuse due to the euphoria rush it gives in minutes when taken. It’s sold as Ecstasy capsules in clubs and hangouts.

This drug is addictive and has many undesirable effects: insomnia, loss of appetite, irregular heart beat, stroke, high BP, hallucinations, psychosis, suicidal thoughts and deadlier withdrawal symptoms.

So why are these youths taking Meth? Peer pressure and temporary fun? This drug is ravaging the lives of many teens in the South East Nigeria and has become a major Public Health issue.

Say NO to Meth. Report clandestine labs to regulatory bodies and the law enforcement agencies. Spread the word.”
