Well, just after 8 days of isolation and treatment, he has recovered and has tested negative according to the information transmitted to the media by the public relations officer of the hospital, Mr Toye Akinrinlola.

He told the press that Prof Otegbayo’s last blood sample result was declared negative after some treatment has been instituted for just 8 days.

Akinrinlola further stated that the test result arrived at about 3:45 pm to gladden the heart of family, friends and workers of the institution.

Otegbayo had tested positive to the virus seven days ago.

He believed he may have contracted the virus through Board meetings of the hospital held from Monday to Wednesday last week.

The week-long meetings were suspended on Thursday after some members showed symptoms of COVID-19.

He was among the eight confirmed cases in Oyo State as at Wednesday April 1.

The Provost of the College of Medicine and his deputy have also tested positive for the virus and have since placed themselves in self-isolation.

After his recovery, Prof Jesse was quoted to have said he was hale and hearty and ready to return back to work to help the country fight coronavirus.

He is the second patient to have beaten coronavirus in Oyo state now as the index case also recovered and was discharged this week.
