Zoologists study animals, their behaviours, natural environments and can conduct group or independent research into a variety of areas.

With this basic definition of Zoology and the job description of Zoologists, it is hard to even picture them in the hospital setting. They cannot work as Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, or Medical Laboratory Scientists as it is not their field and they are not trained to do that.

They can work as unprofessional staff like cleaners though this is very unlikely for someone with a degree in Zoology or any other course for that matter. They are more likely however to be found in veterinary clinics and animal research centres than hospitals.

However, some of the places where Zoologists can work in Nigeria include;

👉Zoos
👉Genetic Engineering companies
👉Animal breeding units
👉Veterinary clinics
👉Research Centres
👉Manufacturing Companies
👉Environmental Conservation groups
👉Consulting companies
👉Zoological parks
👉Museums
👉Pharmaceutical companies
👉Food and agricultural organizations
👉Banks
👉Livestock companies
👉Educational institutions
👉Food and drug administration agencies such as NAFDAC and NDLEA
👉Oil companies

A Zoologist who wishes to work in a hospital can decide to study any of the courses which would enable him/her to work in the hospital.

Most universities accept post graduate admissions into courses such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and others with a minimum of a 2nd class upper in any relevant course. Some schools accept 2nd class lower but this reduces the chances of being admitted.

Some of the universities that accept post graduate admissions include; University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ilorin and the University of Lagos.
