Radiography is one of the courses which provides great opportunities for career advancements whether through furthering education (Masters and PhD’s) or through training to become specialists in a particular area or the use of specific machinery.
Radiography is the art and science of using radiation to produce images of the tissues, organs, bones and vessels that the human body is comprised of.
It is an imaging technique using X-rays, gamma rays, or similar ionizing and non ionizing radiation to view the internal form of the body. Also it is a flexible program that can be stretched over a somewhat long period of time as part time programs are available for students.
Going for the part time program also gives you the opportunity to work while studying.
In Nigeria, this degree is offered as Master of Science in Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences (MSc medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences) in universities such as University of Nigeria UNN, Enugu state or University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross-Rivers state.
The duration is a minimum of three (3) semesters for full time and 5 semesters for part time. To gain admission into the university/Post graduate schools of these universities you must posses and meet the following requirements;
A Bachelors degree in Diagnostic Radiography or Medical Imaging from a recognized University with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 in the 4-point system and 3 in the 5-point system.
You must possess in the first instance, the requisite O’level requirements of at least 5 credits in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, English, and Chemistry to be eligible.
You must posses evidence of completion of or exemption from the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Submission of an acceptable research synopsis is a requisite condition.
You are still strongly advised however to visit your intended institution of study for further enquiry and guidance.
