Many people are accustomed to snacking in between meals even though they are not hungry.

For optimal weight loss it is ideal that you avoid snacking as it allows “unaccounted” calories.

One thing that makes intermittent fasting effective is that it limits your eating window, so that you don’t snack all the time.

However as you are still training your to eat healthy you will get hungry occasionally and may need to snack between meals.

5 Snacks That Call Help Stay In The Fat Burning Zone.

1. Nuts and Seeds

One of the easiest & most enjoyable on-the-go snack is nuts and seeds: packed with nutrition including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Macadamia nuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.

2. Hard Boiled Egg

Hard boiled eggs are easy to make, portable, and incredibly delicious. The egg white is mostly bioavailable protein in favorable ratios. This protein will keep you feeling full and help stave off carb cravings.

3.Olives

Like avocados, these mediterranean wonder fruits are great sources of heart healthy monounsaturated fat. Olives also have a considerable amount of fiber to promote gut health and satiety.

4. Raw Cheese (Block Cheese)

Lower in casein content than pasteurized cheese, raw cheese is also more nutritious. The heat of pasteurization can destroy the delicate nutrients in the cheese. Avoid the sliced one that comes in the plastic.

5. Blueberries & Strawberries

When eaten in moderation berries can be a wonderful snack. Despite their fructose content, blueberries are high in soluble fiber which slows the absorption of carbohydrate and promotes satiety.

6. Biltong (Bonus one for South Africans)

South African dried, spiced meat, made usually of beef, venison or ostrich. It typically has no sugar and is just meat marinated for a number of days in salt, spices, and vinegar and then dried.

All these snacks are healthy when eaten in moderation, normally a handful.

Before snaking ask yourself, are you really hungry or just eating for eating sake?

If the cravings continue after drinking water and then snack on something…

I am not a fan of counting calories.

That is why I am not in favor of snacking all the time. But people are not on the same level and some may need to snack until they get to a point where they don’t have to snack.

It’s all about building habits.
