COVID-19: FG Releases Coronavirus Emergency Numbers in Nigeria.

In a bid to stop the disease which has left 2128 persons dead so far and hundreds of thousands infected, the federal government has released coronavirus emergency hotlines. This was disclosed by the Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire who shared this vital information on his Twitter handle. While allaying fears that there is no case of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Dr Ehanire also assured the public that the Nigerian government has set up diagnostic and treatment centres for coronavirus at Abuja, Lagos (LUTH) and Edo (ISTH) .

He wrote:

Today, I briefed the press on the global #COVID19 outbreak and Nigeria’s preparedness. As of today, Feb. 14th:

* There is NO CASE in Nigeria and Africa

* We have 3 laboratories with capacity to test for #COVID19; @NCDCgov NRL Abuja, @LUTHofficial and @ISTH_Irrua

We have heightened surveillance at the major points of entry by air (Lagos, Abuja, Kano and PH Intl. Airports), land and sea and have set up a Coronavirus Preparedness Group to assess the risk of importation.

The Federal Ministry of Health, @FMoHNigeria, is following @WHO guidelines, monitoring the research about #COVID19 and refining our preparedness based on new evidence.
