List of accredited schools of nursing in Akwa Ibom state.
Undoubtedly, despite the efforts of the country’s ministry of education to eradicate fake institutions, it is known that some very unfortunate members of our society fall prey to fake tertiary institutions. Many of them after having spent years and hard earned money, eventually discover in their final year that their institution is not accredited – How devastating!
In order to protect the interest of other vulnerable citizens, we have undertaken to produce a list of accredited schools of both basic and post basic nursing education in Akwa Ibom state. It would interest you to know that there are other Nursing training schools in the state from which accreditation has been withdrawn and are thus non functional.
Therefore beware of anyone who promise you admission into any nursing school in Akwa Ibom state apart from the ones in the list below.
LIST OF ACCREDITED SCHOOLS OF NURSING IN AKWA IBOM STATE
1.Central school of Nursing, Ikot Ekpene – This school of nursing is attached to the central hospital Ikot-Ekpene. SON, Ikot-Ekpene was given full accreditation in January 2018, with a maximum admission quota of 40 students.
2. School of Nursing and Midwifery, Anua, Uyo – It is attached to the St Luke’s Hospital ( Mission Hospital), Anua, Uyo. SON Anua was given Full accreditation in January 2018, with an admission quota of 75
3. School of Nursing, Hospital road, Eket – This is attached to the Emmanuel Hospital, Hospital road Eket. SON, Eket was given Provisional accreditation in January 2018, with a maximum admission quota of 40 students.
4. School of Post Basic midwifery, Iquita, Oron – Attached to the Central Hospital, Iquita-Oron. SOPBM, Iquita-Oron was given Provisional accreditation in April 2018, with a maximum admission quota of 50 students.
5.School of Post Basic midwifery, Ituk Mbang, Uruan – Attached to the Methodist General Hospital, Ituk Mbang. They formerly had a School of Nursing in this same location but their accreditation has been withdrawn. SOPBM, Ituk-Mbang was given Provisional accreditation in April 2018, with a maximum admission quota of 50 students
6. School Of Post Basic Midwifery, Anua-Uyo – Same location with School of Nursing Anua-Uyo. SOPBM, Anua-Uyo was given Provisional accreditation in January 2018, with a maximum admission quota of 50 students.
