Osagie Ehanire, Temperature Takers and Hazard Allowance by Ronald Kelechi.

I had watch this video over and over to be sure I heard the Minister of Health clearly.

He didn’t mince words or even stammer, came out straight that the reps had to remind him that this was a Novel virus we are dealing with.

Dr. Osagie Ehanire (Health Minister):

“It is their duty, they are just checking temperature”

He even added that it’s a standard job.

Please when did fighting COVID become a standard job?

Medical personnel also over the world are dying from it and yet he calls it a Standard job.

We are in a country where healthcare workers working in isolation Centres have not been paid.

Even some across states are being owed.

Let’s make it clear, everyday they go to work might be their last really.

Most Centres don’t have PPE to work with and yet workers still go on doing the dirty job.

There is no form of insurance by the government for these workers. Hazard remains 5,000.

If I die due to COVID, that’s all I get. My family gets nothing.

What he has done is to take for granted all the SACRIFICES being made by various healthcare workers especially those on the frontlines.

And it is totally unacceptable.

Other countries are putting a premium on #COVIDー19 frontline workers but here we talk down on them, rubbish them, ridicule them and then disgrace them on live TV.

I really don’t understand it but I am so pained.

If you have any relative or spouse who is a healthcare worker, this affects you directly and all of us indirectly.

Dear healthcare worker out there, you have been left to hang and Dry.

Please take measures to protect yourself.

No PPE, no work, it’s that simple really. These guys don’t rate us.

Even the SGF said he does not know the healthcare system is bad – they don’t use Nigerian hospitals.

I hope we have learnt our lessons as healthcare workers and begin to apply wisdom. We all have reduced to TEMPERATURE TAKERS…that is all we do.

Meanwhile somewhere close to us, this is what humane people do.

People who value the efforts their healthcare workers are putting in, people who appreciate that this period is not really the best time for healthcare workers round the globe.

Nigeria should take a clue from Ghana
