The Nigerian High Commission in the United kingdom has suspended the processing of passports until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the high commission, this decision has become increasingly necessary so as to minimize the spread of COVID -19 in line with the health advisory issued by the UK government.
The commission however provided numbers to call for those who require emergency travel documents.
This suspension takes effect from tomorrow, Wednesday 18th 2020.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Tuesday confirmed the third case of coronavirus in Nigeria.
Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, broke the news to journalists at the government secretariat Tuesday morning.
“This is a new case independent of the index case of a 30 year-old Nigerian, female, who returned from the UK on 13th March,” the commissioner said.
Although Nigeria has so far recorded three cases of the virus, only two are active. The second case, linked to the index case, recovered and later tested negative.
