Breaking: Nadine Dorries, British Health Minister tests positive for coronavirus

Health minister Nadine Dorries says she has tested positive for coronavirus.

She said in a statement that as soon as she was informed she took all the advised precautions and has been self-isolating at home.

“Public Health England has started detailed contact tracing and the department and my parliamentary office are closely following their advice.”

It comes as a sixth person died from the virus in the UK, which has a total of 382 cases.

The latest person to die, who was in his early 80s, had underlying health conditions.

GPs are warning routine appointments at surgeries may have to stop as the number of coronavirus cases rises.

Nadine Dorries is believed to be recovering from the virus and responding to treatment.

Nadine Vanessa Dorries(néeBargery; born 21 May 1957) is a British Conservative politician serving as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since 2019, and has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Mid Bedfordshire since 2005. Considered to be on the political right of the Conservative Party, she has a reputation for being outspoken.

In the other news, as fears for coronavirus spreads across Europe and America , both Joe BidenandBernie Sanders have cancelled Tuesday campaign events in Ohio.

“Thanks for so many good wishes. It’s been pretty rubbish but I hope I’m over the worst of it now. More worried about my 84yo mum who is staying with me and began with the cough today. She is being tested tomorrow. Keep safe and keep washing those hands, everyone.”
