Buhari sets up a Presidential Task Force for Coronavirus (See the list of members).

Given the current global outbreak of the novel COVID-19 & its potential of causing significant disruption to health services in the country as well as impacting negatively on the economy, President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari has established a Presidential Task Force for the Control of the COVID-19.

This action is in preparation for the unlikely but probable major outbreak of the disease in the country which will require a multi-sectoral inter-governmental approach as advised by the WHO similar to that adopted for Ebola and the HIV epidemic in the last two decades.

The start and finish task group which would be expected to deliver within a maximum period of 6 months, comprises the following:

a. Mr. Boss Mustapha (SGF) – Chairman

b. Dr. Sani Aliyu – National Coordinator

c. Hon. Minister of Health – Dr Osagie Ehanire

d. Hon. Minister of Interior /

e. Minister of Aviation – Hadi Sirika

f. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Mgt & Social Services

g. Minister of Education.

h. Minister of Info & Culture. i. Minister of Environment.

j. DG, State Services.

k. DG, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

l. WHO Country Rep.

Apart from China, where the infection of the virus started, it spreads geometrically to other countries in the world, ranging from Europe, America, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, Nigeria inclusive.

Each country is taking measures in curbing the plague of the Coronavirus, by quarantining the suspiciously infected in order to avoid its spread, while the infected are being treated in special medical facilities.
