You’ve seen Twitter talk about liver, eggs, steak, raw milk, oysters etc to death…Yet there are some healthy foods that many Americans no longer eat or enjoy because it they are considered bad or unhealthy…in this article, I am going to show you some foods that are often overlooked but healthy.

Here are 10 foods with powerful benefits that are rarely mentioned:
1. Mussels
Everybody talks about oysters, but rarely mentions mussels!
Mussels are a great source of selenium, iron, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, B12 and is one of the best sources if vitamin B1!
They are also extremely cheap!
2. Seaweed
Most people do not get enough iodine in their diet, which is vital for your thyroid, and seaweed is by far the best source of iodine!
It’s also a great source of copper, riboflavin, thiamin, and much more!
3. Cod liver
You can’t scroll on Twitter for 5 minutes without seeing someone mention beef liver, but rarely do you see anyone mention cod liver!
Both are great, but cod liver is an amazing source of Vitamin D and and omega 3’s, especially DHA (the most important omega 3)
4. Romaine
Many people in the USA think romaine is just empty calories, but it is actually a solid source of nutrients despite being only 8 calories in a cup!
Romaine is a good source of vitamin K and folate, as well as trace amounts of many other vitamins and minerals.
5. Cinnamon
Americans think cinnamon just belongs in sweet treats, but has been prized for medicinal benefits for thousands of years!

Similar to cinnamon, many think vanilla only belongs on dessert.

To be clear, I am a huge fan of liver, oysters, eggs, etc too! Eggs are now very unpopular but healthy.
