Difference between Applied Biochemistry and Biochemistry

Applied Biochemistry is the part of #Biochemistry where knowledge and methods related to Biochemistry are applied to real world problems like investigating the cause of disease in Medicine, the effects of nutritional deficiencies, ways of effective pest control, improving productivity and storage in agriculture. The teaching of Applied #Biochemistry provides general approaches to Bio-chemical testing.

Biochemistry is a branch of science that deals with the chemical processes within and outside of living things. Biochemistry is a laboratory based science that combines biology and chemistry. Biochemistry aims to understand the mechanisms that are the basis of life by describing the structure and function of bio-molecules. It is the discipline that attempts to understand the workings of ourselves and our interactions with nature from the direction of both the physical sciences and biological sciences.

Some of the areas which are primary to Applied Biochemistry include; General approach to biochemical research, Methods of cell breakage, Centrifugation techniques, Purification of proteins and enzymes, Determination of total protein, Enzyme activity, determination of the primary structure of proteins, Main types of Chromatographic and Electrophoretic techniques and many more.

The purpose of Biochemistry is to essentially analyze the chemical and three-dimensional structure of biological molecules and their interactions, the ways and the mechanisms that the cell uses to synthesize, degrade, organize and coordinate them. It also deals to define the processes of conservation, transmission and expression of genetic information.

#Biochemistry is the broad umbrella which encompasses #Applied biochemistry and an array of other aspects while Applied #biochemistry focuses on the application of research and research methods of #Biochemistry in solving real world problems.
