Does fluconazole kill parasites?

Fluconazole is a broad spectrum antifungal drug used to treat all forms of fungal infections like ringworm, oral candidiasis, vaginal candidiasis and fungemia (fungal sepsis). Fluconazole has no effect on diseases caused by parasites.
Parasitic infections are a major problem in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Malaria is one of the deadliest parasitic diseases. Parasitic infections can also in developed countries of the world including the United States. Common parasitic infections in the world include:
Malaria
trichomoniasis
giardiasis
cryptosporidiosis
toxoplasmosis (protozoa)
There are special drugs designed for the treatment of parasitic infestations and fluconazole is not one of them.
Fluconazole does not kill parasites and cannot be used to treat or cure parasitic infestations.
