Radiography is the art and science of using radiation to produce images of the tissues, organs, bones and vessels that the human body is comprised of. It is an imaging technique using X-rays, gamma rays, or similar ionizing and non ionizing radiation to view the internal form of the body. Radiographers are specialists who are trained to take different clear images of parts of the body using radiation (due to difference is densities of different parts of the body) and special equipments and techniques while Radiologists are medical doctors or Physicians who are trained to analyze the images produced to diagnose patients, prescribe medications or discharge patients.
Industrial Radiology is a modality of non destructive testing that uses ionizing radiation to inspect materials and components with the objective of locating and quantifying defects and degradation in material properties which could eventually lead to the failure of engineering structures using short X-rays, gamma rays, and neutrons.
To become a Radiographer, you will need to complete a bachelor’s degree in Radiography (Medical imaging/radiation) which takes about four years in a university plus one year of clinical experience. Radiography is a lucrative course which also enjoys a high employment rate and high demand due to the scarcity of qualified Radiographers in the country, they also enjoy a lot of monetary allowance due to the somewhat dangerous nature of the job as they are exposed to radiation no matter how little.
Radiology is a branch of medicine that uses imaging technology to diagnose and treat disease. Radiology may be divided into two different areas; Diagnostic radiology and Interventional Radiology.
Diagnostic Radiology involves viewing structures inside the body, doctors that specialise in the interpretation of these images are Diagnostic Radiologist. They diagnose symptoms, screen for different illnesses using procedures such as Computerized Tomograph (CT) scans, Computerized Axial Tomograph (CAT) scans, Fluoroscopy, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans.
Interventional Radiologists are doctors that use imaging such as CT, Ultrasound, MRI and other Fluoroscopy to help guide procedures. The imaging is helpful to the doctor when inserting catheters, wires or other small instrumentals and tools into the body.

A radiologist earns higher than a raiographer globally. On average, a Radiographer earns between N100,000 naira to N150,000 naira per month for a start in a federal setting and about 75,000 naira to 110,000 per month in state hospitals and private laboratories. On average, a Radiologist who is just starting out earns about 452,000 per month while an experienced 1,450,000 per month. The pay range of a Radiographer or Radiologist depends on the kind of job and job descriptions, years of experience in the field and qualification, sometimes the location affects the overall salary and also specializing in a specific field and being able to operate certain specialized equipments often attract somewhat higher pay.
