Many Ghanaians have Kooko, but the symptoms are not always obvious. A lot of people, even many of you reading this post, have piles. Maybe yours might be mild or asymptomatic, so you don’t know that you have it.

Meanwhile, What is kooko?

Yours sincerely, www.nimedhealth.com.ng , will be as simple as possible to enable proper understanding.

Kooko is that thing that happens to you that blood comes out from your anus when you stool/defecate/go to toilet. Also included are the pains you feel and the soreness and the discomfort you feel around your anus. Kooko is flesh that protrudes from your anus when you stool, could be painful and could bleed. Most times the flesh go back in after passing stool and sometimes it remains permanently outside and tender when it is complicated.

This explanation should help.

To repeat what I just explained up here,

——- Kooko are collections of tissues and veins in the anus that becomes inflamed.

——- Another name for pile is hemorrhoids

——- Anal canal contains blood vessels, muscles, elastic fibres, support tissues etc. These things become inflamed. When something is inflamed, it turns red, becomes sore, swells up and exhibits pain. When this inflammation occurs, the veins in the Anal canal that carry blood can easily become opened when pressure is applied to it.

——- Pressures that can easily break the veins and cause it to bleed are, for example when you strain so hard to defecate/go to toilet.

——- So, when you force the stool to come out and it’s stretching the walls of your anus; remember that the wall of your anus is already inflamed. So the stretching of the stool on the inflamed Anal wall and it’s veins, causes the veins to start tearing open and bleeding

—– This is how blood accompanies your stool and this is what pile is.

——- But pile is more than this, the pain can be excruciating.
