List of Emergency phone numbers in Nigeria…10 emergency numbers in Nigeria
Abiola Olajide Writes:
“Your child asks you if Nigeria has an emergency call up number. Instead of either owing up to not knowing or educating the child, you tell the child “Jesus is the emergency number in Nigeria ooo”. What manner of parenting that is.
The 112 has been functional for almost 6 years now. I have used it. Some friends have also used it. The operators are responsive as well. I once used it to call fire service to come put out a burning truck in Gwarinpa and they responded swiftly. It is a national emergency code.
Lagos has had theirs for almost a decade now and it works.
Just like the day I told someone who is resident in Lagos that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture has a warehouse of equipment and machinery in every state Capital. She was shocked. I mean, machinery and equipment subsidized by almost 75%. It is open to anyone who is interested in buying to walk in, apply and purchase. Yes, the Nigerian factor does punctuate such process once in a while but the apathy on the part of Nigerians is just too much.
If tomorrow, the child finds self in an emergency situation, instead of calling 112, she will just be shouting “Jesus” helplessly because the parent has told her that Nigeria doesn’t have such service.
Patriotism and commonsense begins at home.”
