Side effects of postinor-2 on menstruation, ovulation and fertility ….how many days will Postinor delay period?

Danger of frequent use of postinor 2 on ovulation, menstruation and fertility.

Postinor-2 is an emergency contraceptive, also known as the ‘morning-after pill’. It is a form of contraceptive that is used after sex, and helps prevent pregnancy when no other forms of pregnancy-prevention techniques were used prior to having sex.

It comes in two pills that are taken within 72 hours after sex. However, because of its easy use, accessibility, and the belief that it prevents pregnancy, a lot of females take this drug regularly in so as not to get pregnant.

Let’s be clear about some things.

Postinor-2 as an emergency contraceptive is not meant to be taken regularly. Or who do you know goes to the emergency room every two weeks because he/she is doing what he/she should not be doing? The medication is meant to serve as an emergency for those very rare times you forget to use a condom, or you are not certain about the effectiveness of some other form of contraceptive you are using.

What then happens when you keep using Postinor-2 regularly? Here are a few of them you might have noticed or you should expect.
Just like most drugs, Postinor may make you have headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting.

Being a hormone, regular use of Postinor messes up your menstrual cycle. Repeated use of the drug may lead to irregular cycles, missed periods, and prolonged bleeding. As a result, your menstrual cycle may be unnecessarily delayed, or may come earlier at a time you do not expect and are not prepared for. Postinor 2 can cause secondary ammenorrhea…a condition in which a woman will not see her period for at least 3 months.

It places you at risk of infertility, such that at the time when you are now ready to get pregnant, things may refuse to happen.
In some extreme cases; hypertension, heart failure, stroke, migraines, epilepsy, kidney problems, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia, and depression have been reported following prolonged use of the drug.

No matter how long you use the drug, it can never prevent you from picking up HIV or any other form of sexually transmitted disease.
This is not to scare you. It is simply important to know that Postinor-2 is not the typical regular contraceptive. It should only be used when absolutely necessary. It should not be used too frequently, not more than six to twelve tablets in a year. You should also never take beyond the required two tablets at each point.

Postinor 2 can cause anovulatory cycle during your menstruation. This means menstruation without releasing an egg. Anovulatory cycle can cause infertility in women.

Have you heard about the drug used to treat vaginal yeast infection called polygynax?
