Do not add folic acid to pregnacare, it already contains the needed daily recommended dose 400ñg which is equivalent to 5mg.

Take a look at the ingredients in Pregnacare and you will see it already comtains Folic acid in the right and recommended amount;

Pregnacare contains the following active ingredients per tablet:

Vitamin D (400 IU) 10 mcg;

Vitamin E 4 mg;

Vitamin C 70 mg;

Vitamin B1 3 mg;

Vitamin B2 2 mg;

Niacin 20 mg;

Vitamin B6 10 mg;

Folic Acid 400 mcg;

Vitamin B12 6 mcg;

Natural Mixed Carotenoids 2 mg;

Vitamin K 70 mcg;

Iron 17 mg;

Selenium 30 mcg;

Magnesium and so on.

Folic acid is very essential for the first 6 months of pregnancy. Even if you are taking prenatal drugs. It helps your baby’s spinal cord to close well and also lowers the baby’s chances of birth defects like spina bifida.

Pregnacare is good. Most times you don’t need to take extra supplements like Folic acid. But that’s where regular Antenatal Care comes in. Anything that needs to be tweaked would be based on findings on that visit.

Some women take folic acid with pregnacare but not pregnacare plus but there is no need. There is folic acid in pregnancare already.

If you’re pregnant
1. Take your drugs, especially folic acid
2. Don’t take drugs/supplements except it’s prescribed
3. Stay away from cigarette smoke, and away from people that smoke
4. If you have cats, ask someone else to remove their faeces
5. No alcohol
6. Move around often

For those asking… Cat faeces may contain a certain organism known as Toxoplasma, it is harmful to your unborn baby.

PS: Pregnant women should ensure they take their Folic acid….it prevents spinal bifida in babies and helps in brain development. Pregnant women and of course, women of child bearing age (even before getting pregnant) should take Folic acid… Folic acid is needed for the development of neural tube which occurs early in pregnancy even before d woman is aware she has taken in. According to research, more than 90 percent of children with spinal bifida are from very poor homes…they do not have the money for spinal bifida repair surgeries. So, prevention is cheaper than cure. Take Folic acid today.
