Dear nimedhealth.com.ng, does tramadol cause impotence?
I have been told by many folks out there that tramadol or tramal OR trams have the ability to cause impotence and weak erection… .how true is really this claim?
Many Nigerian men and young males are now very fond of using tramadol to enhance their sexual performance. How they got to know that tramal gives strong penile erection is a discussion for another day entire. A drug once known for its ability to relieve pains has found its way into the hands of young folks who use it to last longer in bed. They want to impress their sexual partners, to the extent that tramadol is now viewed in Nigeria as a drug of abuse.
The abuse and use of tramadol as a sex enhancer has become so rampant that people has been sending mails to nimedhealth.com.ng to find out if tramadol can cause impotence and weak erection.
Can tramadol cause impotence?
Not really… Or it is not in literature that tramadol can cause impotence or weak erection as an immediate or long term side effects… Nimedhealth.com.ng has look up almost all the big health blogs and none has mentioned that tramadol causes impotence in what ever form.
According to Rxlist, Side effects associated with use of Tramadol, include the following:
muscle spasms or stiffness
feeling unwell (malaise)
dilation of blood vessels (vasodilation)
difficulty in concentration
menstrual dysphoric disorder
motor system weakness
lightheadedness upon standing (orthostatic hypotension)
numbness and tingling
fast heart rate
abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG)
high blood pressure (hypertension)
low blood pressure (hypotension), may be severe
reduced blood flow to the heart (myocardial ischemia)
life threatening respiratory depression
neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome
severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
From the side effects listed above, you can see that tramadol does not cause impotence or erectile dysfunction or weak erection.
