An article on Chemical Exfoliants in Nigeria and tips on how to use them for a flawless and healthy skin, chemical peel procedure in Nigeria and cost of chemical peel in Nigeria.

Skin exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface (epidermis) via mechanical (physical) or chemical means. Exfoliation is involved in all facials, during microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

What is a chemical exfoliant

Chemical exfoliation or chemical peel involves the use of mild acids to get rid of dead skin cells from the body.

A chemical exfoliant is that acid used to remove dead skin. The aim is to have a smooth, radiant and acne free skin. Many women also do chemical peeling or exfoliation to remove dark knuckles.

Chemical exfoliation is done by a trained esthecian or certified skin care therapist.

Here’s a list of all The Ordinary’s Acids chemical exfoliants:

1.Glycolic Acid Toning Solution

3.Lactic Acid 10% + HA

4. Lactic Acid 5% + HA

7. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid Masque

8. TCA

9. Cosmelan

All of these are exfoliants (not just serums, exfoliants). There is absolutely no need to use both glycolic acid and lactic acid or mandelic acid and lactic acid in the same routine daily (especially if both exfoliants are AHAs)

Pick your fighter based on what your skin needs.

If for any reason, you want to do a combo deal like use salicylic acid masque to maybe fight your hormonal acne while the glycolic acid toner is your main exfoliant, remember not to exfoliate more than three times a week.

Example: Salicylic Acid Masque – Monday
Glycolic Acid Toning Solution – Thursday and Sunday.

Whatever skincare gymnastics you want to do, don’t over-do it when it comes to exfoliation.

That glycolic acid toning solution should not be used as daily toner. Get a hydrating toner for daily use.

Glycolic Acid Toner: 2-3 times a week.
Hydrating Toner: Daily.

About that AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling solution I dislike, if you insist don’t use that solution more than once a week.

What I am saying is:
1. Don’t use any leave on chemical exfoliant daily.
2. Don’t exfoliate more than 3 times a week (even if you have a thousand exfoliants in your routine)
3. Don’t use more than one exfoliant in a routine.

I know a lot of you are skincare “rolling stone” (that gathers no moss) but please cut down. If you find an exfoliant that works for you, stick to it. There is absolutely no need to try that new exfoliant from the other brand (unless you’re a professional skincare product judge)

It is better to play safe in skincare than to go all out and wreck havoc on your skin.

FIND THE RIGHT EXFOLIANT AND STICK TO IT (2-3 TIMES A WEEK).

And two other things…..
