GOODNEWS: The 3 Chinese nationals quarantined in Plateau have tested negative for coronavirus.

The Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Ndam has said that the three Chinese nationals alongside the 39 Nigerians working with them who were quarantined in Bakin Kaya village of Wase Local Government Area of the State have tested negative to the coronavirus.

The commissioner declared that “so far, there is no known symptoms in those quarantined in the state”.

The commissioner made the disclosure today, Sunday, during a press briefing in Jos to update the public about the state of things concerning the Covid-19 in the state.

Recall how some Chinese nationals were quarantined as precautionary measures in Wase LGA of the state in an attempt to halt the spread of the disease in the state, after Nigeria recorded its first case of the disease in Lagos on Thursday.

The commissioner added that the 39 Nigerians quarantined alongside the Chinese citizens are those working together with them at a mining site and their compound, stating that in-depth medical checks were still ongoing.

Dr. Ndam however called on the people of the state not to panic, as strong measures had been taken to check any unforeseen circumstances.

Recap that the first case of coronavirus is an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, Nigeria on the 25th of February 2020. He was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos. As as today, the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said the index case is “very stable.”
