There is a charm in the South-Western part of Nigeria that discourages extra-marital affairs. Despite the fact that it has its origin in the Yoruba culture, it is also used by people all over the country to curb promiscuity and infidelity.

Magun is a charm that originates from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. It literally means “do not climb.” Magun has been used for centuries to catch a wife who has an extra-marital affair or to put a promiscuous woman in check.
Some parents are known to put magun on their daughters to discourage pre-marital sex and ward off rapists. Thunder bolt is a love and a killer charm that is placed on a woman by her lover, husband, family members or in-laws.
In most circumstances, the charm is put on a woman without her knowledge. A stick of broom or thread is usually placed on the floor for a woman to unknowingly walk over it. Once she works over the thread or broom stick, the charm takes its effect.
Now there are different sorts of magun. The three most famous ones are;

Some might be inflicted with boils on the thigh which may later spread to other parts of the body, chicken pox, increase in sweating, increase in drinking water among others.
Men that have sexual intercourse with a woman with this charm also experience some of the symptoms peculiar to the woman. But, other strange behavioural symptoms for men include crowing like a cockerel 🐓 , headache, convulsion, somersaulting, and enlargement of the male private part. Both sexual partners glue with each other and the withdrawal of the male organ will be impossible.
If the effects of this charm are detectable on time, there is a possibility of remedies. People that fall victims of this charm or glue together during sexual intercourse are taken to the traditional practitioners or rulers to destroy the enchantment or for separation. Shame, disgrace and divorce are the end result of the guilty people.
But is this a mere superstition? Yes, other persons think otherwise…..

Magun, otherwise known as Penis Captivus is an extremely rare phenomenon that makes it impossible to withdraw the penis from the vagina as long it lasts. The vagina padlocks the penis! But Doc, it’s jazz! Its because the woman is cheating and her vagina has been cursed!
If true, then how would you explain the presence of this is animals, especially dogs? Which herbalist did they go to? And this same phenomenon has been documented in Oyibo (white) people that have no magun specialist.

Here some explanations as to why it can happen
1. the contractions of the vagina during orgasm
2. some people have a rare condition known as vaginismus, This is the result of an involuntary vaginal muscle spasm, which makes any kind of vaginal penetration painful, or impossible.
3. anxiety may also play a role in this matter which is often the case in cheating couples. Relaxing or sleeping it off even giving relaxing drugs has been shown in some people to release them
Eventually, blood leaves the penis and the contractions stop, and penis can be removed.
However the research is still ongoing. But it is a natural phenomenon and can be explained.

Breaking News: Magun does NOT exist. There’s no such entity in medical parlance or in actual real life. It’s a myth created to discourage infidelity. If you leave your wife lying fallow, boys will mark attendance like it’s a double period Biology class. And nothing will happen.
And for those talking about Penis Captivus, please note that this clearly RARE medical phenomenon is a case of vagina muscle spasm, something like the spasm you have when you sleep on your neck or when you pull a muscle during football. There’s NOTHING metaphysical to it. At all.
Again, pls note, penis captivus is NOT the same entity as the Yoruba claimed myth and fable called Magun. Magun by its very nature and description is entirely different, has a metaphysical diabolical basis, and is just the product of wild imaginations. Nothing real at all to it.
And let me be clear that documented cases of Penis Captivus do not always have any infidelity to it, the spasms resolve completely on its own without any metaphysical or diabolical intervention, and there’s no jazz/juju laced on the woman. It’s merely a case of bad vagina spasms.
Even in scientific medical publications, Penis Captivus is so rare that the British Medical Journal 1979 says “it is often regarded nowadays as no more than a prurient myth”. And yet, even Penis Captivus is technically and actually NOT the same thing as Magun.
I understand the outrage and the eagerness to believe Magun is real especially in a predominantly superstitious culture, but however ladies and gentlemen, if we are being serious and not kidding ourselves, the story of Magun is only as real as children believing in Teletubbies.
And please understand me, magun is a positive myth (in that it prevents and helps to discourage infidelity) but it is a myth nonetheless. Its like when parents tell young girls that “if a boy touches you, you get pregnant”, we know they hav good motives but the message is a lie.
So on a final note,infidelity is wrong, adultery is evil and these are vices that no culture or society should ever encourage. However, please stay away from people’s partners because you know it is wrong and not because you are scared of somersaulting and crowing like a chicken.

Final Note: My opinion
The concept of magun or penis captivus is as old as humanity. It is documented in ancient Roman Empire and still occurs till today. It occurs in all rac es, be it whites, black, arabs, latinos and asians. It is a scientific phenomenon that can be managed medically and have no spiritual undertones. Also condom does not protect against “Magun”. It occurs in animals especially dogs.
However, the debate about Magun VS Penis Captivus rages on in Nigeria (Africa). It is an age old belief that will take time to unlearn.
