Coronavirus: Federal government support Nigerians trapped in China with N12million.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has donated over N12million for the welfare of its citizens in Wuhan, China.
Abdul-Rahman Balogun, the spokesman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), in a statement on Thursday, thanked President Buhari for the financial support.
The statement read: “On behalf of NIDO China, we will like to appreciate the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the Embassy of Federal Republic of Nigeria in China for the immense support and encouragement during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) which originated in Wuhan, China.
“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari for the generous financial support of the sum of 235,000 RMB (N12million) provided for Nigerians in Wuhan.
“We sincerely appreciate you and your team NiDCOM in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in China for the role played in facilitating the financial support.”
About two weeks ago, pictures of Nigerians trapped in Wuhan(China) surfaced online bearing placards with the inscriptions: Please Bring Us Home”. This was in the heat of coronavirus in China that take the life of more than 2000 of their citizens.
Nigerian Ambassador, to the People’s Republic of China. Ahmed Jidda, in a statement, forwarded to newsmen, on Friday afternoon, assured all Nigerian citizens living in China that the Embassy is communicating with relevant authorities in Nigeria to address their concerns in the midst of the current outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.
Jidda said China has managed epidemics in the past, and its reaction to the current health crisis is among the reasons why we shouldn’t panic about the virus.
This Federal government support Nigerians trapped in China with N12million will come very handy.
