HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS (HPV)

Common symptoms : itching or warts and verrucas on the genitals or surrounding skin. Pains if warts is infected.

GONORRHOEA

Pain areas : in the lower abdomen, pelvis, testicle, or vagina Pain circumstances: can occur during sexual intercourse or during urination

Groin: abnormal vaginal discharge, discharge from penis, or increased vaginal discharge , irregular menstruation.

GENITAL HERPES

Pain areas: in the penis or vagina

Pain circumstances: can occur during urination or during intercourse

Skin: rashes or scab

Groin: painful sores or ulcers

CHLAMYDIA

Pain areas: in the eyes, lower abdomen, pelvis, testicle, or vagina

Pain circumstances: can occur during sexual intercourse or during urination, difficulty in urination. Symptoms of PID in women.

Groin: abnormal vaginal discharge or discharge from penis

Also common: eye discharge or spotting.

TRICHOMONIASIS

Pain circumstances : can occur during sexual intercourse or during urination.

Groin : cervix inflammation, discharge from penis, fish smelling vaginal discharge, vaginal inflammation, vaginal irritation, vaginal itching, vaginal odour, or vulval inflammation.

VAGINITIS

Not a sexually transmitted infection anyway. Simply means inflammation of the vagina.

BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS

Symptoms: abnormal vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, or fishy vaginal odour.

VAGINAL YEAST INFECTION

Pain areas : in the vagina

Pain circumstances : can occur during sexual intercourse or during urination

Groin : cheesy vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, vaginal inflammation, or vulval inflammation

Also common: vaginal skin redness.

HIV/AIDS

Pain areas: in the abdomen

Pain circumstances: can occur while swallowing Cough: can be dry

Whole body: fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, malaise, night sweats, or sweating, weight loss

Gastrointestinal: nausea, persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, or watery diarrhoea.

HIV presents as flu-like or malarial like symptoms.

Throat: difficulty swallowing or soreness Groin: sores or swelling

Mouth: ulcers or white tongue

Also common: opportunistic infection, headache, oral thrush, pneumonia, red blotches, skin rash, swollen lymph nodes, or wasting.

SYPHILIS

Symptoms: Syphilis develops in stages, and symptoms vary with each stage. But the stages may overlap, and symptoms don’t always occur in the same order. You may be infected with syphilis and not notice any symptoms for years. Common symptoms are painless ulcers on your genitals and rectum. Women with syphilis may give birth to baby’s with low birth weight and congenital.

PUBIC LICE(CRABS)

symptoms: Severe vaginal itching that is worse at night and vaginal irritation.

SCABIES

The hallmark symptoms of scabies include a rash andintense itchingthat gets worse at night. Continuous scratching of the infected area can create sores that become infected.

HEPATITIS B

SYMPTOMS: Most people do not experience any symptoms when newly infected. However, some people have acute illness with symptoms that last several weeks, including yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), dark urine, extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. A small subset of persons with acute hepatitis can develop acute liver failure, which can lead to death.

Sexually transmitted infections are best prevented than treated. Use the ABC method to avoid it.
