MDCN has approved Gombe Specialist Hospital for Housemanship, housejob, or internship.
Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has in a letter dated 10th May 2021 with reference number MDCN/1242/VOL.1/45 granted Gombe Specialist Hospital an approval to commence Housemanship training for young doctors, dental, medical graduates. This means the gombe state specialist hospital can now employ fresh medical and dental graduates for their compulsory one year paid internship training or programme.
In a similar approval, the council has also approved the Gombe State University to continue graduating its second set and subsequent ones of medical students.
The Council has charged the University management to uphold its extant regulations as they affect undergraduate medical education in Nigeria at all times.
This development follows an unwavering commitment of His excellency, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya’s administration’s drive to prioritize the health care system in the State.
Just recently, Gombe State University graduated their second set of medical students and these medical graduates will be employed by the Gombe Specialist hospital for medical internship.
In 2020, Governor Inuwa Yahaya commissioned various projects at the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, which included a new Accident and Emergency Department (AED), General Outpatient Departments, Staff quarters, interns and Resident Doctors quarters, fully renovated sections of the hospital and eleven brand new Ford Hilux vehicles.
