Fenugreek and Enlarged Prostate:Is fenugreek good for prostate cancer? Does fenugreek raise PSA levels?
Enlarged prostate of known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is all men’s nightmare, as it can affect quality of life, specifically with annoying and embarrassing urination problems.
The likelihood of developing an enlarged prostate increases with age, and this issue is so common that it has been said all men will have an enlarged prostate if they live long enough.
Men with #Enlarged #Prostate either benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate cancer should avoid talking fenugreek seed or oil.
Is fenugreek good for prostate cancer?
No is the answer. Prostate cancer is more of an hormone sensitive cancer. This is because testosterone is the most important hormone implicated in the growth of prostate cancer….it stimulates the prostate tissue to proliferate beyond normal leading to cancer. That is why prostate cancer is best treated with androgen deprivation therapy, a form of therapy whereby medications are administered to block the production of testosterone and desensitize the prostate tissue from testosterone. So it will not grow.
Part of the treatment of prostate cancer is bilateral total orchidectomy, a surgical procedure that involves removing the testis, the organs in the body that scrotum that produces large amounts of testosterone.
Now, you can see that testosterone is the culprit of prostate cancer in the real sense of it…. fenugreek seed or oil works by stimulating the testis to produce testosterone and for women the ovaries to produce oestrogen.
You can now see the reason fenugreek is bad not good for persons with prostate cancer. Fenugreek seed usage will worsen #prostate cancer and increase its rate of growth…and even possibly spread.
It is also on record that fenugreek raises blood PSA levels…so persons going for #Prostate Cancer screening should not take fenugreek at least a week before the PSA test.
The summary of this all is the that fenugreek is bad for prostate, ovarian, breast and other hormone sensitive cancers.
Be warned ….always discuss with your doctors before use of these herbal products.
