Red peppers are ripened or matured green peppers. They are mildly sweet with a touch of earthly taste. It is one of the varieties of bell pepper, from the Capsicum annuum family. There are other types of peppers with red color, just like the cayenne pepper. However, it is only the red bell pepper that is referred to as the “red pepper”.
