In Medical institutions such as Pharmaceutical companies, Microbiologists run tests and determine the effects of drugs and chemicals made on cells and microscopic organisms. In hospitals and laboratories, they carry out analysis on body fluids like blood, urine and stool to detect parasitic microorganisms and help in the determination of correct diagnosis. They work closely with Medical lab scientists.
OIL COMPANIES;
Microbiologists play their part in oil detection and exploration by analyzing the species and quantity of microorganisms at certain depths and locations. They are also employed to genetically engineer microorganism which can reduce pollution by breaking down crude oil from spills into harmless substances.
BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS;
Microbiologists help companies and investment firms to evaluate a particular scientific or medical market to guide their strategies and decisions For example, a business analyst with a background in microbiology may help an investment firm to decide whether or not to financially support a biotechnology start-up.
