Can valacyclovir treat gonorrhea and chlamydia?

Valacyclovir is a prescription antiviral medicine. Valacyclovir lowers the ability of herpes viruses to multiply in your body. Valacyclovir may be prescribed for cold sores, shingles, genital herpes, or chickenpox.
Treatment of herpes labialis and herpes genitalis generally consists of episodic courses of oral acyclovir, its prodrug valacyclovir, and famciclovir. Oral antiviral medications, acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir, may be used (off label) as therapy for other uncomplicated HSV conditions (eg, herpes whitlow), and the same doses as those used for herpes genitalis treatment are commonly recommended.
You can see that all these diseases listed above are caused by viruses and not by bacteria. Chlamydia and gonorrhoea are sexually transmitted bacteria infections and not caused by viruses. So gonorrhoea and chlamydia cannot be treated by the antiviral drug – valacyclovir.
Summary:
Valacyclovir cannot treat gonorrhoea and neither can it treat chlamydia. If you want to treat these sexually transmitted infections, you need antibiotics not antiviral medications.
