ICYMI: Akwa Ibom records 5 cases of coronavirus as Nigeria’s total cases jumps to 174.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has announced 23 fresh cases of coronavirus taking Nigeria’s total tally to 174, 9 discharged and 2 dead. This time around, Akwa Ibom, a state in South – south Nigeria which once had zero cases has recorded its first 5 cases.
The NCDC disclosed this from their verified twitter handle yesterday night:
Twenty-three new cases of COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos, 7 in the FCT, 5 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Bauchi State
As at 08:00 pm 1st April there are 174 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.
Nine have been discharged with two deaths.

Akwa Ibom state government is yet to respond to this new development in the state but the NIGERIAN HEALTH BLOG authoritatively gathered that some foreign health workers who last month came to the state for a medical outreach were later found to be positive and probably have exposed the indigenes to the virus.
