SUSPECTED COVID19 PATIENT IN ENUGU TESTS NEGATIVE.

The result came in today, from Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital with a collaboration with Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), confirming the result as NEGATIVE of COVID-19.

The Nigerian Centre for disease control earlier yesterday reported a suspected case of coronavirus in Enugu while pleading with the public to be calm while they await test results from the samples taken from the patient. ..

NCDC wrote on their verified Twitter handle:

“The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is aware of the patient in Enugu, suspected to have #COVID19. This is one of several alerts received daily at the National CoronavirusEmergency Operations Centre. The patient is in isolation, sample collected and results expected tomorrow.”

Recall that Nigeria has two confirmed cases of coronavirus both are isolated and being treated In Lagos. The second patient, who is a Nigerian was reported to have tested negative by the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire. The index case (Italian) has recovered but still still secreting the virus (contagious) according to Prof Akin Abayomi, Lagos State government Commissioner for Health.
