Herbal family planning pill in Kenya.

Family planning simply means planning the number of children you can take care of based on your economic and health status.

Many Kenyan women have poor access to affordable contraceptive services and family planning clinics. They result to all sorts including dangerous methods of preventing unwanted pregnancy like use of herbs and drinking or inserting of herbal concoctions. This they do because it is readily available and affordable…herbal family planning pills don’t exist and even though they do, they do not work. Kenyan women who take herbal to prevent pregnancy end up having unintended pregnancy and may resort to unsafe abortions.. Don’t forget abortion is illegal in Kenya.

Unsafe abortion is the major cause of maternal deaths in Kenya… and the problem starts from use of herbs and even alcohol.

Stop patronizing quacks who sell herbal family planning pill in Kenya in our markets and even pharmacy stores… They do not work.

How do you know prevent pregnancy if I don’t use herbs?

Abstinence from sexual activity is the only 100% effective way to avoid unintended pregnancy. For individuals who are sexually active, correct and consistent contraceptive use is highly effective at preventing unintended pregnancy. The most effective methods to prevent unintended pregnancy include long-acting reversible contraceptives such as intrauterine devices (IUDs) and contraceptive implants, followed by other hormonal contraceptives including oral contraceptives (pills), the patch, the ring, and the Depo-Provera shot (DMPA). Condoms protect against both unintended pregnancy and STIs, and their use should be encouraged. Both men and women should be counseled about using condoms at every act of sexual intercourse when not in a long-term, mutually monogamous sexual relationship.

In 2019, it was reported by CNN, researchers have developed a once-a-month oral contraceptive pill that they say would offer women more choice and control over their fertility.

Once swallowed, the pill remains in the stomach for weeks, slowly releasing hormones to prevent a pregnancy.

It is specially designed to resist immediate attack by stomach acid.

A US team, funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation , has tested it in pigs and hopes human trials can start within a few years.

The researchers say it would be a good option for women who want to take a tablet for birth control, but are worried about remembering to take a daily dose.

The most effective family planning methods globally is the use of modern contraceptive pills and not with the use of herbs. Thank you.

  1. Interesting article.
Why not encourage men to take contraceptives or come up with a pill that can not be ingested for one month but specifically for men.
Women already have enough on their plate. Even without contraceptives, hormones are raging daily. Addition of hormonal drugs just makes them more irritable and less interested in the use of FP drugs or methods.

    Just my insight though.

    Thank you.
