Before you take the risk of penis enlargement, read this.

“I think there isn’t any guy who hasn’t wished his penis were an inch or two longer,” says Micheal O’ Leary, MD, professor of urological surgery at Harvard Medical School and a urologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital In Boston.

There are a lot of options out there for penile enlargement-penis pills, creams, brutal stretching exercises, horrific-looking devices, and penis surgery. Almost none of them works. These few approaches have serious side-effects like erectile dysfunction and penile rupture.

“Trust me, if I knew a way to safely and effectively increase penis size, I would be a billionaire,” O’Leary tells WebMD. “But I don’t. Nobody does.”

Still size-obsessed guys use scary treatments on their penises risking a lot in the process.

The typical erect penis is usually 5 to 6 inches long with a girth (width) of about 4 to 5 inches. There is more variation in the the size of flaccid penises.

Some guys are genuinely smaller than that. This condition caused by genetic and hormonal problems is known as micropenis-an erect penis less than 3 inches long. Sometimes Peyronie’s disease and prostate cancer surgery can reduce a guy’s penile size.

But studies show that most of the guys seeking penis enlargement are average-sized. They just THINK they are below average.

Part of the reason for this is the guy’s perspective and gauging angle. It is difficult to gauge the size of your penis by looking down at it.

Psychology also plays a role, too. Some average-sized guys become obsessed with the idea that they are too small- a diagnosis known as penile dysmorphic disorder in Psychiatry. It is similar to the perceptual distortion of anorexics who think they are too fat no matter how thin they look.

One safe and effective method for getting a larger- looking penis is weight loss.

” A lot of men who think that they have a small penis are overweight,” says Jennifer Berman, MD, a urologist in Beverly Hills and co-author of Secrets of Sexually Satisfied Woman.

Losing weight will reveal more of the hidden shaft that is buried beneath belly fat. It doesn’t actually increase your size, but it will look that way.

The various penis enlargement techniques like surgery, use of pills, creams, supplements, ointments and penis stretching devices have been shown by studies to have scary side effects like infections, nerve damage, loss of sensitivity, penile amputation, urethral stricture, penile fracture, penile rupture, penile scarring, bent penis, disfigured penis, pain, waste of time (and money), dissatisfaction, depression and weak erection.

NONE of the methods for penis enlargement has been shown to be effective (or safe) by any reputable scientific studies, and none has been approved by any medical institutions or government agencies. Most of the advertisements on penile enlargement back up their claims with spurious/false scientific research, fake testimonies and always hide the side effects.

“The main target for penis enlargement advertising are insecure guys who think all their powers lies in their penises,” says Berman. “These guys are easy victims.”
